Is my kid the right age for it?

Rated and certified for ages 8-12, and we'd hold that line. At 8.1 mph with a body that is designed to slide, this needs a rider with the reflexes and the judgment to handle oversteer - that is a different skill from driving a 3 mph ride-on truck. The 154 lb capacity does mean it keeps working through the tween years.
